Yamazen Inc., a distributor of machine tools, tooling, accessories and automation, has developed and released the
FLEX2-JR. This is the newest member of the FLEX2 offering. The current standard product offering is the FLEX2/FLEX2-R robotic system. FLEX2 for Brother M and S models was released in early 2019, and the FLEX2-R was released in 2020 and was created specifically for the Brother SPEEDIO R models.
Like the FLEX2 and FLEX2-R, the FLEX2-JR provides Brother SPEEDIO customers better spindle utilization by automating repetitive tasks that can be completed faster with less human error while saving time and money, the company reported.
The automation system directly interfaces with the Brother SPEEDIO S300/500, M200/300 and the U500 Series
machines, and was built to feed only one machine. With its compact design, it takes up minimal floor space while maximizing consistent throughput. The cell's steel frame construction has a built-in safety system, with a single source design and build.
Some of the standard features include:
- User-friendly lane dividers on the inbound belt for raw parts
- Nachi Smart Teach Pendant has the function to enable easy programming. The FLEX2-JR consists of the Nachi 6-axis industrial robot. Two robot models are available: the MZ03EL and MZ10LF. The MZ03EL has a maximum reach of 1,102 mm/43" and a payload of 3 kg/6 lbs. The MZ10LF has a maximum reach of 1,202 mm/47" and a payload of 10 kg/22 lbs. This powerful, compact, high-speed and precise design provides through-arm cabling and air piping with air blow as standard features, the company reported.
FLEX2-JR loads the side of the Brother S300/500/M200/300 and U500 model machines with a heavy-duty black belt conveyor that has an inbound work area of 12" x 48" (maximum part height 4.5") and an outbound work area of 12" x 60" (maximum part height 4.5") with a weight capacity of 100 lbs.
The automation system also allows for easy-to-add options, such as: vision, part marking, inspection, re-grip, inspection chute or reject chute. End of arm tooling (EOAT) can be either a single or dual gripper. Yamazen automation group will review customer needs to engineer the correct gripper design for specific applications.
